Many people think that mineral fibre and fibreglass tiles are the same and that the only difference is the price.
That’s simply not the case, and when it comes to choosing a product that will work best for each unique space, performance lies in the type of acoustic tile you use.
Here’s an example - choose fibreglass when needing a higher Noise Reduction Coefficient or NRC, as it tends to absorb more sound within a room as opposed to mineral fibre if all other characteristics are equal. This makes it a good option for public specs with hospitals, schools, and businesses requiring better performance of the acoustical treatment than residential or commercial spaces.
Mineral fibre will provide higher CAC values, meaning less sound will travel to adjacent spaces within the plenum. Because mineral fibre is higher in recycled content and uses slag or rock wool, the tiles typically cost less than fibreglass.
Kenroc has the acoustic ceiling tiles you need and Jamie Wright can answer any of your ceiling system questions.
