Protect Confidentiality: While it can be appealing to use AI as a helpful business support tool, it is important to remember that AI tools like ChatGPT are public generative tools meaning risk such as data leakage or intellectual property theft are there. Also important to consider is, putting customer data into public AI could breach non-disclosure agreements, contracts or privacy agreements.

Verify all AI outputs: AI can give you any information you want, and the click of a button. However, AI is simply pulling information from three sources: internet access, third-party access and user generated information – all of which can be false or fabricated. Always make sure to verify information provided by AI through credited sources.

Disclose AI Use: Ensure both staff and customers have transparency when they are engaging with AI through your business so they can take the necessary informed precautions.

Continuous Education:  AI as it stands today is rapid and ever-changing. It is imperative to stay educated on the changes happening with AI and to reassess often on training needs for employees.
