Branch Accountant (Winnipeg)
Description

A Branch Accountant handles a broad scope of responsibilities expected of someone in a private enterprise business accounting and office management role.

You will be directly involved in all steps of full-cycle accounting. We want to know your experience with credit management and collection as well as preparing financial statements. You will be responsible for payroll for around 30-35 salaried and hourly employees. This person will also manage an assistant, but their influence as a leader will extend beyond that relationship to support the General Manager and Operations Manager in their responsibilities.

Overall, this accountant will ensure the efficient coordination of office operations as well as business processes/procedures at our Winnipeg branch.

Training will be provided to prepare this individual for success at our company. We are seeking someone with the capacity and drive to fully develop in this role.

Responsibilities

This person will have the necessary experience, education and qualities to:

  • successfully drive and deliver high demand output in financial and administrative duties including:
    • preparing month-end and year-end reports
    • preparation of financial statements
    • payroll and benefits as well as WCB administration
    • management of credit processes including:
      • customer credit investigation/authorization
      • delinquent account collections
    • provide effective support to customer service and sales departments
    • further develop their knowledge and abilities
    • manage an assistant
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education that is either:
    • Minimum two-year post-secondary program focused on accounting
    • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Business Administration plus work experience directly related to:
      • Accounts Receivable
      • Accounts Payable
      • General Ledger
      • Cost Accounting
    • Five or more years of work experience related to recordkeeping plus analysis, including:
      • Credit management
      • Payroll
      • Financial statements
    • Pre-placement drug testing and credit check is required

Assets:

  • Construction, building products or wholesale background
