Delivery Driver

Description

Reporting to the Operational Leader, the Delivery Driver is responsible for safeand damage-free deliveries to the proper physical placement, based on the delivery documentation, utilizing Company delivery vehicles. Deliveries may require the operation of equipment such as articulated truck-mounted booms, forklifts and/or conveyors. A Delivery Driver may be required to operate such equipment providing the required licensing, certification or training has been met.

As an ambassador of the Company, the Delivery Driver is required to conduct themself in a professional manner, including a willingness to work collaboratively and respectfully with customers and team members.

Requirements

  • Repetitively lift up to 110 lbs.
  • Possess strong critical thinking skills used to make field decisions.
  • Possess the ability to communicate effectively with the delivery team, vendors and customers.
  • Work collaboratively within a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in a respectful and ethical manner.

Responsibilities

  • Understands and ensures consistent compliance with company policy, procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Provides leadership, and direction on safe material handling and required training to Material Handlers.
  • Responsible for counting the load and completing delivery slips to ensure the truckload is accurate.
  • Ensures truck weight requirements are adhered to and that trucks do not exceed maximum legal axle weights and/or insured GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight)/GVCW (Gross Vehicle Combined Weight) limits. Ensures the weight of the product is distributed evenly and is properly secured.
  • Ensures safety protocols and documentation for the full delivery cycle, including equipment as per the Safety Manualare accurately and efficiently completed and filed.
  • Conducts pre-trip equipment inspection to ensure safe and efficient operation and submits reports to the operational leader to ensure maintenance is performed.
  • Completes a job site hazard assessment prior to unloading materials for each delivery location.
  • Ensures count sheets, sales orders reconciliation and packing slips are accurately and efficiently completed and filed.
  • Provides assistance to the operational leader and/or Dispatcher in the preparation and building of truckloads at the warehouse.
  • Must have a general understanding of the Company’s products and services.
  • Produce quality work and complete tasks with minimal supervision.

Skills

  • GED (Grade 12)
  • Class 1 or Class 3 license with at least one (1) year of delivery experience
  • Forklift and/or Crane certificate is an asset. If required by provincial regulation a CraneSafe Certification may be required.
  • Fall Arrest, First Aid, Equipment Operation, and Air Endorsement training is an asset
